In Theaters This Weekend…

MOTHER’S DAY:  This is the 3rd film directed by Garry Marshall themed after a special day of the year.  In 2010 we had Valentines Day, then in 2011 was New Years Eve and now we had Mother’s Day.  Just like the other films we have a big ensemble cast with different storylines that somehow are all linked together.  Unfortunately, just like the other films, this one really misses the mark.  Jokes that fall flat, over exaggerated acting and for a film that you might think is a tribute to mother’s, 3 of the main characters really had mommy issues.  So with this film, I’m gonna say this is Not A Must See Movie.

KEANU:  A completely off the wall comedy that makes no sense at all but was still hilarious the entire way through.  This is one where you should expect the unexpected.  Especially since the whole movie is based around the cutest cat ever, Keanu, that everyone is trying to keep their hands on.  Key & Peele really did good with this one and I’m saying that this is a Must See Movie this weekend.

SING STREET:  A fan favorite from this years 2016 Phoenix Film Festival, Sing Street is about a boy who meets a girl he’s totally into but she’s not so much into him.  But to create that interest he, Cosmo, creates a band so she, Raphina, would be more intrigued.  And it actually works.  Based in 1985 Ireland and the height of the video revolution this film shows, perfectly, how the videos of the day had a big influence on the kids who were trying to find and learn how to express themselves.  This is a great story that has a great soundtrack of classic 80’s hits mixed with even better new music that I’m gonna say this is a Must See Movie that is only playing here in the valley at the Harkins Camelview at Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale.
