Your Quick & Simple Review: “Solo: A Star Wars Story”

The man who always seems to get himself in and out of trouble, a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) teams up with crew of criminals led by a thief named Beckett (Woody Harrelson) and along the way meets his future co-pilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover).  As they travel across the galaxy in a journey that beings the legend of everyone’s favorite scoundrel.

The movie many Star Wars fans have been waiting for, is finally here.  Now we get to see all the stories of Han’s past, that we’ve either heard about in the original movies or read in the books, come to life on the big screen.  Just as you would expect, it’s a pretty fun trip with plenty of action.

Literally, right from the get go, Han is on the run causing havoc in his quest to evade being caught.  I think, Alden, as our new Solo was a good casting.  Although he doesn’t have the same swag as, Harrison Ford, he does exude the confidence the character needs to portray that there isn’t anything he can’t do.  Even if he is in way over his head.

Personally, the best part of the movie was seeing Donald Glover as Lando.  Again, he’s no Billy Dee Williams but since we get to see more of this character, in his prime, it’s Donald who really lets us see the suave and smooth moves of Han’s old buddy.  What a nice job he does too.  I think the only character I did have an issue with was, Emilia Clarke as Qi’ra.  Something about her, in this role, didn’t sit well with me and I really didn’t buy it.

All in all, “Solo: A Star Wars Story” is a fun movie that is loaded with action, great visual effects and obviously the introduction of some legendary characters is pretty cool to see too.  But because it’s a prequel and we know that, no matter what danger Solo finds, he’s gonna get out of it, diminishes a little bit of the excitement.  But I believe Star Wars fans will love this one making it A Must See Movie.  However, even if you’re not a huge fan of the series it’s still a fun 2 hour ride to go on.
