Hell Or High Water: This is a modern day western, of cops and robbers, that has a great cast that delivers a great but simple story. It was intriguing and kept you wondering if these 2 bank robbing brothers (Chris Pine and Ben Foster) would get away with it and how. Jeff Bridges was solid as the, almost retired, Texas Ranger in charge of catching the brothers. This one if definitely a Must See Movie that is playing exclusively at the Harkins Camelview @ Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale.
Pete’s Dragon: Years ago when the original came out it was one of my favorites. It was simply a fun movie to watch. Now we have a re-boot that, for me, was pretty much anything but fun. I honestly thought that this was one of the most depressing kids movies I have ever seen. Right from the get go, when we see how Pete got lost in the woods, bad things happened. Except for a short couple minutes after that we see Pete and Elliot playing a little bit but then it becomes dark and sad. Which is unfortunate because I really wanted to like this one. So I’m gonna have to say this is one Disney flick that is Not A Must See Movie.
Florence Foster Jenkins: This one usually isn’t one I would normally care for but surprisingly enough I really liked it. Meryl Streep’s character is sophisticated and fun and has a horrible singing voice but with the support of her husband played by Hugh Grant and her pianist played by Simon Helberg lives her dream of becoming an opera singer. And accomplishes an unforgettable performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall. Although the film itself was a good one this is Not A Must See Movie. But I think fans will enjoy it none the less.
Sausage Party: Ever wonder what the shelf “life” of your favorite grocery store items is like? Yeah, me neither. However, Seth Rogen apparently has and he along with Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, and Salma Hayek came up with one of the craziest and outrageous Rated-R animated movies EVER. And I liked it… Grocery shopping will never be the same after this one. There are so many “no they didn’t just do that” laughs that I think Rogen fans will love… This is a Must See Movie this weekend if you’re looking to laugh and laugh a lot… But DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN to this one. Just because it’s a cartoon doesn’t mean it’s for kids.
