Snowden: Directed by Oliver Stone and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Edward Snowden who is a computer expert that leaked classified National Security Agency information to the press back in 2013.
This was actually a pretty good film. Joseph carried this one very well, like he’s been doing in some of his recent movies, but he also had a great cast to support him as well. Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Tom Wilkinson and even Nicolas Cage. Although the story itself was nothing spectacular, it was just intriguing enough to keep me interested on where it was going and what was going on. A few times I found myself confused because of the technical dialog they were using, cause I had no idea what it was they were talking about. Fortunately that didn’t happen too often which kept it enjoyable for me. Granted this is Not A Must See Movie it’s still pretty interesting none the less.
Blair Witch: So we finally have a real sequel to the 1999 classic The Blair Witch Project and it’s actually pretty good.
In this new film we have James, who is the brother of the original cast character Heather, along with his friends, setting out to find out if his sister is somehow still alive somewhere in the Black Hills Forest. Understandably so they have a lot of similarities to the original film… missing time, noises in the woods, walking around in circles… but they stepped it up a bit too. Now we have tents flying, trees falling, bloody injuries and we get a glimpse of what I can only assume is the Blair Witch… and I liked that.
Now the downside, if you wanna call it that, is it just took a while to get to some really exciting stuff. The first part of the film seemed like they were trying a little to hard to create tension and terror with needless arguing and bickering. A few times it seemed like the cast was over acting. However, once they got to the 3rd act things got really good. So if you can get through the first part of the movie ok, and you’re not claustrophobic, the last 30 minutes will be worth it.
