Weeks after a vocal-cord hemorrhage forced Sam Smith to cancel a string of tour dates and an appearance at the Billboard Music Awards, the British singer has undergone a successful surgery at a Boston hospital. Today (which is also Smith’s 23rd birthday), Massachusetts General Hospital issued a statement saying that Smith is expected to make a full recovery after Dr. Steven Zeitels performed a procedure to stop recurrent vocal cord bleeding…a surgery he’s also performed on Adele, Steven Tyler and Lionel Richie. Smith’s next live performance is currently scheduled for July 18…
