In Theaters This Weekend…

Concussion:  Probably Will Smith’s best performance since Ali and one of the better movies this holiday season.   It was an interesting and intriguing look at the after effects of the life’s of football players when the final whistle has blown on their playing career.  Although Smith’s character is a very soft spoken man, his performance came through loud and clear of the emotional struggle Dr. Bennet Omalu went through during this time.  This is one I would put on the “Go See” list.

Daddy’s Home:  Starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg this is one I was hoping was going to be better than it was.  After seeing Ferrell and Wahlbergs “The Other Guys” a few years ago I thought these two made a good on screen team.  However, in this film, even though I still like them together the comedy just wasn’t there like it was before.  Too often there were jokes that didn’t go over like I thought they wanted it to.  And since Will Ferrell seems to keep playing the same kind of roll in every single movie he makes these days the excitement for Daddy’s Home diminished quickly.
