Your Quick & Simple Review: “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark”

Usually kid themed movies are not my cup of tea.  Unless they involve a superhero wearing a cape, I tend to pass on them.  However, I am a fan of scary movies, and when I saw the trailer for Scary Stories it actually peaked my interest.

So having never read the books the trailer was pretty much all I knew about Scary Stories.  But with a PG-13 rating, I was reserved as to how good this one would really be.  Since I like horror flicks, I didn’t think this one was gonna be able to bring out the blood and guts, just a few jump scares.  For that most part, that’s what it was, but they were good jump scares mixed with a lot of creepiness.

I liked the cast in this one.  Even though they were high school age, except for a few jokes here and there, they didn’t have the immaturity you might get in a lot of young adult movie.  That really helped sell me this film.

If you’re one of those people, like me, who don’t really gravitate to “kid” movies, I would definitely take a chance on Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark.  Even though the trailer looks good, it’s much better than that.  As a matter of fact it’s actually better than some straight up Rated R horror flicks… Don’t be scared to check it out.
