Jurassic World Thumb

Your Quick & Simple Review: “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”

Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) have returned to the island of Isla Nublar, 3 years after the Jurassic World theme park was destroyed,  to help save the remaining dinosaurs from a volcano that’s about to erupt. However, things do not go according to plan and they discover things they weren’t expecting.

So after creating a reboot that not only had one of the biggest stars on the planet, Chris Pratt, as its lead and a very fun and exciting story, someone decided that they needed to do a sequel.   Which would have been fine, but just like the original series, the 2nd films story just didn’t live up to the 1st one.

Just like the rest of the series, the visuals are absolutely amazing and there is some fun intense action.  But what’s really missing here is a story with some real substance.  To me, except for B D Wong, it was like all they did was recreate the previous characters but recasts them with new actors and gave them different names.  The rich guy who has his own get richer plans going on.  The former military guy for hire, the child who needs to be rescued and another never seen before monster that people want to try and control.  So originality points were lost there.  Since they did leave this one open for another sequel, hopefully they’ll try to be more creative and not depend on all the explosive action sequences to save the film.  Which is exactly what they did here.

All in all though, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was still a very enjoyable film and I liked it, as will the fans of the series… That’s why I’m gonna say this one is A Must See Movie this weekend.  But one can only hope, for the next one, they give us something better, so it doesn’t come off as just a money grabbing movie.
