Your Quick & Simple Review: “Alpha”

ALPHA:  20,000 years ago, young Keda (Kodi Smit-McPhee), after being left for dead by his tribe, must survive alone in the wilderness. On his journey he forms an unlikely alliance with a lone wolf that was abandond by its pack. Finding danger everywhere, Keda and the wolf, Alpha, must make their way through an unforgiving landscape to make it home before winter.

A familiar story about a boy and his dog, that is a really intriguing ice age adventure.  I was surprised at how little dialog there was but didn’t mind it much since you didn’t need it to understand what was happening.  Plus, the dramatic moments they encountered, at almost every turn, keeps you intrigued.

This is geared to be a family film, however, since it’s subtitled, I don’t think it’s for little kids… especially since there are a some implied violence moments.

Overall, Alpha is a good movie that has beautiful cinematography and enjoyable performances by both its leads and I wouldn’t mind seeing it again.
