Sicario: Day Of The Soldado… Mexican drug cartels are smuggling terrorists across the border and FBI agent, Matt Graver (Josh Brolin), reaches out to Alejandro Gillick (Benicio Del Toro), to help with a plan, to start a war between the cartels. After Alejandro kidnaps a kingpins daughter, tension between the cartels rises and things take an unexpected turn that has the two men questioning what they’re fighting for.
When the first film came out, in 2015, I wasn’t the biggest fan. For me, it was really slow and didn’t have as much action as I had hoped it would. So I obviously didn’t think that it was a film that needed a sequel, but it got one. So I had hoped that this time this one would be a lot better, it was, but not a lot. Benicio is pretty awesome in his performance, and his young co-star, Isabela Moner, was too but it still had that slow pace to it. Thankfully there was a lot better action this time, and a much more intriguing story. However, in the end, just like the first film, Sicario: Day Of The Soldado is Not A Must See Movie.
Leave No Trace: Will (Ben Foster) is the father of a teenage daughter, Caroline (Thomasin McKenzie) and they’ve lived a happy, mysterious life in the forest near Portland, Ore., rarely making contact with the world. But when a small mistake tips them off to authorities, they are sent on a journey in search of a new place to call their own.
This was one of the more fascinating films I’ve seen this year. Very little dialog, especially from Ben’s character, but the story takes an interesting turn as it goes along, when Will and Caroline are placed into regular society. This is where, Thomasin gets to shine with a strong break-through performance, as her character is finally getting a chance to see what a “normal” life is like. And finds it’s a life she prefers, but the question is… Will her father?
Now although this is a really great movie, I don’t think that this is a movie for every one… But if you’re looking for a great simple story, with strong performances from it’s two lead actors, then Leave No Trace is A Must See Movie for you.
Uncle Drew: After draining his life savings to enter a team in the Rucker Classic street ball tournament in Harlem, Dax (Lil Rel Howery) is dealt a series of unfortunate setbacks, including losing his team to his longtime rival (Nick Kroll). Desperate to win the tournament and the cash prize, Dax stumbles upon the man, the myth, the legend UNCLE DREW (NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving) and convinces him to return to the court one more time. The two men embark on a road trip to round up Drew’s old basketball squad (Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, and Lisa Leslie) and prove that a group of septuagenarians can still win the big one.
