A young woman named, Sawyer (Claire Foy) is involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear–but is it real or is it a product of her delusion?
Billed as a psychological thriller, I was very much looking forward to seeing how this one was going to play out. After all director, Steven Soderbergh usually makes some pretty good movies, so I was hoping this would be just as good the others. What intrigued me most, about this project, was the fact that the film was made using an iPhone 7 camera.
I liked the concept of the story, how a series of misunderstandings leads to some dramatic moments. However, when those moments came about it was quick and not exciting as I hoped. That’s the way most of the film was for me.
As far as the cast performances go, everyone was fine but I was pretty impressed with Jay Pharoah. Although he had a small role, it was nice to see him doing something besides comedy. I actually wished he’d have been in more of the film.
Overall Unsane is a decent movie, that I liked, but to actually use the words “thriller”… I wouldn’t go that far. Which is why I, for me, this is Not A Must See Movie.
