INSIDIOUS

Your Quick & Simple Review: “Insidious: The Last Key”

Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) returns to the house she grew up in. Accompanied by her two investigative partners, Rainier travels to Five Keys to confront and destroy her greatest fear — the demon that she accidentally set free years earlier.

So I’ve been a fan of this series and was excited for this latest installment, Chapter 4.  After all with James Wan’s name attached to it, it’s gotta be good.  However, I was kinda disappointed with The Last Key.  It did have more than a few good jump in your seat spooks but the story was pretty generic and the performances weren’t as engaging as they could have.  What took away even more from the spooky, for me, was that they showed too much of the ghosts/demons.  When they have an entire scene where the ghost is just standing out there in the open for a few minutes at a time, it no longer has that fear factor to it.  That’s were this one lost it for me.

I think fans of the series, like me, won’t hate it if they take the time to see it, but I don’t think it’s one worth seeing a second.  Since they did leave it open for another chapter, hopefully it will have more to offer than this one.
