The 2015 Emmy nominations were announced today, featuring a refreshing mix of familiar and first-time nominees. To wit, both Mad Men (in its final season) and Transparent (in its first season) seemed to do relatively well among their respective drama and comedy competitors, while Empire was snubbed in the Best Drama Series category. (Game of Thrones led all shows with 24 nominations.) So You Think You Can Dance’s Cat Deeley and Orange Is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba co-hosted the announcement ceremony–and both were surprised at the end of the event, when Television Academy CEO Bruce Rosenblum revealed that each earned individual Emmy nominations for their hosting and acting performances this year. The 2015 Emmys will be hosted by Andy Samberg on September 20, airing live on FOX.
