Your enemy’s enemy is your dog, according to a new study from Japan’s Kyoto University. In a role-playing exercise, researchers found that dogs will refuse food offered to them by another person they witnessed snubbing their owner. “We discovered for the first time that dogs make social and emotional evaluations of people regardless of their direct interest,“ says lead researcher Kazuo Fujita. “This ability is one of the key factors in building a highly collaborative society, and this study shows that dogs share that ability with humans”…
