After 45 years on Sesame Street, Sonia Manzano, who played Maria, is retiring before next season, E! reports. The news came in the form of a tweet by the American Libraries Association, and since then Manzano has been consoling fans on Twitter, even suggesting that she might return for guest appearances. Manzano joined the cast of Sesame Street in 1971, and has won 15 Emmys from her roles as a writer and actress for the show.
