Love-Simon

Your Quick & Simple Review: Love, Simon

Everyone deserves a great love story, but for 17-year-old Simon (Nick Robinson), it’s a little more complicated. He hasn’t told his family or friends that he’s gay, and he doesn’t know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.

Typically I have a hard time with films like these, young adult, because they really aren’t made for someone my age.  But there was something about this one that made it different from your typical high school drama film.  I think it was the fact that they kept in mind the seriousness of the subject and didn’t let it get carried away with any immaturities you’d see in other teenage flicks.  Even though there were a couple here and there, they weren’t, by any means, something that would ruin this one.

I liked how they touched on different parts of Simons coming out.  First, by finding the anonymous person to admit he has a secret to.  Then having to find a way to tell his friends and family and seeing their reactions.  The best part of the story was how they got viewers involved with it by letting us also try to figure out who his anonymous love interest is.

I’m sure there are plenty of people who didn’t have the same endearing coming out story like, Simon but I’m glad this is the one that we got to be part of that I think audiences, and not just the teenage ones, will love.  So ,for me, Love, Simon is A Must See Movie this weekend.
