In Movie Theaters This Weekend…

SUBURBICON:  Set in the summer of 1959,  Suburbicon is a community that appears to be the perfect place to raise a family.   The Lodge’s are one of those families. But the tranquil surface masks a disturbing reality, as husband and father Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) must navigate the town’s dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence.

I was hoping this was going to be a good dark comedy, but what I got was just dark and not very good at all.  Right off the bat I didn’t care for how they went with a racist storyline.  I think if they might have had a better film focusing on the Lodge family alone instead of what appeared to be two stories at the same time.

There’s a great cast in this one but the story was so bad that even these performers weren’t going to save it.  And because of that I have to say that Suburbicon is definitely Not A Must See Movie.

ALL I SEE IS YOU:  Gina (Blake Lively) is a beautiful young woman who loses her sight as a young girl years earlier. Now living with her husband, James (Jason Clarke), in Bangkok she undergoes an operation that restores the vision to her right eye. Now that Gina can see again, she slowly starts to realize that her newfound independence makes James feel jealous, threatened and insecure.

This was an interesting film.  But not in a good way, because I found this one to be very predictable.  I was hoping I would be wrong and it would take a turn for the better, but it didn’t.

Gina has this new lease on life now that she can see again and James is trying to keep up but would much rather live in the simple practical world they’ve had together their entire married life, when she was blind.  It was funny to watch how much hurt they were willing to put the other through instead of just going their separate ways.  And you knew, almost always, what they were gonna do or had done.

Now I like pretty much anything Blake Lively is in… because it’s Blake Lively… LoL.   However, that couldn’t save this one for me.  This one, for me, is also Not A Must See Movie this weekend.
