Yesterday, a backed-up sewer line spilled into a Nogales, Arizona, home and several businesses. These things happen from time to time, but what made this backup unusual is that it was caused by packages of illegal drugs stored in the sewer line by a Mexican cartel–an extremely rare occurrence in a day and age when such organizations are able to build their own smuggling tunnels without resorting to existing pipes. Nogales’ city manager told the AP that a video feed showed several bundles that had gotten clogged in the sewage line, forcing waste to travel through an underground tunnel connected to the house, which was declared a total loss shortly after the catastrophe.
